Exhibition: (Re)Collection

Center For The Arts Evergreen 31880 Rocky Village Drive, Evergreen

(Re)Collection – a juried exhibition of collected memories
April 7 – May 7, 2022

Memory is a fundamental part of our everyday lives. Autobiographical remembrances tell our individual stories and illustrate our sense of self. Collective memories speak to the shared human experience and shape our enduring impressions of the world. Collateral reminiscences are smaller moments that resurface at unpredictable times, but stick with us for an unexplained reason. (Re)Collection is an exhibit that addresses how we use art to experience time and memory. The power of memory is immeasurable. What does it mean to you?

Abstractions: Beyond Reality

Parker Artists Guild 19650 Mainstreet, Parker

There are many types and styles of abstract artwork. There is non-objective art which relies only on the elements of art and composition to execute the work, like the work of Mark Rothko. Artwork that is a simplifying or twisting of reality is also abstract, such as the work of Piet Mondrian. Many of Mondrian’s paintings are simplifications of flower arrangements and other everyday scenes or objects. The theme of this show is abstraction, which does not necessarily mean "nothing recognizable", but could also mean "not realism." Abstract photographers often use macro photography or change their photo in the “post-production” or “post-processing” process.
